LGP offers a range of interactive and best practice modules in Procurement, Contracting and Project Management. These are designed specifically for the local government sector, covering seven critical areas of procurement and contract management. These modules are delivered by knowledgeable trainers with hands-on experience in local government. The contents, case studies and activities are tailored with practical examples to maximise knowledge transfer. These public courses also provide the participants with the opportunity to share and learn from their experiences and network with peers.

Option to attend a session via Zoom

Our regional and rural clients can use Zoom, the online platform that allows people from any geographic location, the opportunity to remotely attend (fully/partially) the courses which are conducted at our office in Sydney. This app is very lightweight on Internet and requires only a computing device with audio and video options. 

Regional Procurement Training 

Intending to make training more accessible to its Regional and Remote clients, over the last couple of years LGP has been delivering courses at several locations across NSW. Between 2020-2022, we ran 36 sessions in ten regional cities/towns with about 475 participants.   

Continuing with our commitment, we have planned to run training courses at the following locations in 2023. The sessions will go ahead subject to receiving minimum required registrations and the course to be offered will depend on the demand in the region.

Procurement in Local Government-The Essentials provides a basic understanding of procurement function including the strategic and sustainable dimensions of it, specifically applicable in the local government sector. The participants get to learn the procurement process and its different stages, and the methods involved.

Procurement and Contracting in Local Government- The Essentials focusses on the key aspects of procurement and contracting, specifically relevant in the local government sector. Advanced Contracting in Local Government is a one day course designed to help advance the knowledge and skills in contract management. Tender Evaluation and Contract Awarding is a full day course that covers the knowledge and skills needed to carry out tender evaluations systematically as prescribed, choose appropriate suppliers that fulfill all criteria and enter a contract. The course is  delivered in a workshop format and the activities, case studies and examples shared by the skilled facilitator along with the core concepts will augment the overall learning experience.

Procurement Life Cycle in Local Government- The Essentials is a two (2) days’ course that will help to build the foundation skills and knowledge around key aspects of procurement life cycle, specifically relevant in the local government sector. The participants will gain a holistic perspective of procurement function through the four (4) critical domains covered in this course.

The Essentials of Project Management  is a hands-on, one-day course that covers the fundamental aspects of undertaking a project using a structured approach. This could include a minor project or a section of a larger project. You will learn about the basic concepts of project management, key aspects of establishing the project parameters, how to develop a project plan, activities involved in administering and monitoring the project, and finalising and reviewing the project to identify lessons learned for application to future projects

Probity in Procurement is a half-day course designed to provide a comprehensive overview of probity in procurement within the NSW Local Government sector. By the end of this session, participants will understand the importance of probity in procurement, probity risks, lifecycle and probity requirements.

ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement Training is a full day course designed to provide participants with an understanding of ISO 20400 on sustainable procurement and how it can be used in their own context and professional role. This course covers how to analyse a council’s current sustainable procurement framework, identify drivers for sustainable procurement and define a sustainable procurement strategy and program of work that is tailored to your current council’s context. This course is targeted at procurement management, management staff in charge of environmental, social and economic issues, management in finance, legal, HR, engineers and operations.

Bidding for Government Contracts covers the basic principles, processes and best practices in bidding for government contracts. The objective of this course is to provide insights about public sector procurement from the buyer’s perspective as to what is required, how the proposals are considered, the tender evaluation process, preparing and submitting bids. The experienced trainers assist the participants to develop skills and confidence in bid writing.
