LGP Procurement Capability Grants Program

four-colors-line

LGP is pleased to launch the Procurement Capability Grant Program 2023.

NSW councils are again being given an opportunity to enhance their procurement capability through our Grant Program.  This follows last year’s successful process which saw councils access over $95,000 of procurement related funding.

Exclusively created to help fund new projects and professional development in procurement, the LGP Procurement Capability Grant Program is the first for the Australian local government sector.

This program has been crafted to incentivise the design and implementation of impactful initiatives that advance capability in procurement practice across the NSW local government sector.

The Grant Program application process is short and simple. Any NSW council, Regional Organisation of Councils, Joint Organisation, Aboriginal Land Council or County Council can make a submission for procurement capability initiative projects between $3,000 and $25,000.

LGP is looking to support initiatives that fall within the criteria of Process Improvement, Procurement Resource Development, Technology, Professional Development or Other (disaster recovery or procurement related areas).

To qualify, your proposed procurement project or initiative must have a completion time frame of within a 12 month period.  Projects underway, or already completed will not be considered.

A qualitative evaluation will take place and the evaluation criteria will include:

  • Degree of ‘need’
  • Volume and quality of anticipated benefits
  • Capability (in-house or external) to support the project
  • Likelihood of success

Projects meeting recommendations by the Office of Local Government, the Audit Office of NSW, Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and the like will be considered favourably.

How to Apply

We have designed the process to access the Grant Fund to be simple yet agile.

Step 1: Lodge your Expression of Interest (EOI)

Submitting the EOI is simple and short, making it a quick and streamlined process.

Our submission template simply asks for a brief outline of the procurement initiative or project to be funded, along with the associated benefits and milestones.

To make sure the initiative has the right Executive support from LGP and your organisation, a senior council executive is required as the Project Sponsor and to sign off the submission.

Step 2: Submission Review & Decision

All submissions will be reviewed by a high level LGP panel, those successfully meeting the criteria may be asked to provide further details to clarify the initiative or project prior to making a final decision.

All applicants will be advised in writing of the outcome.

Grant Funds will be dispersed by LGP in a method that best supports the delivery of a timely and effective outcome.

Strong interest is again expected for these grants.  We encourage you to lodge your EOI by 28 April to ensure you are in the running..

Closing date for EOIs is COB 28 April 2023.

Enquiries can be made via your LGP Business Development Manager.
