How Sustainable Is Your Procurement?

If you wish to know how sustainable your procurement is, find out in LGP’s Annual Survey.

Incorporating sustainability into procurement processes takes more than a good policy. A council that has genuinely embedded sustainability into procurement must regularly undertake a range of activities, including identifying the drivers for implementing sustainable procurement, conducting staff training, measuring progress, and ensuring that sustainability factors influence procurement decisions.

LGP offers an annual sustainable procurement survey, aligned to the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement guidance standard, which assesses councils’ progress in embedding sustainability into the procurement process.

Participation in the survey is free, and answers to the survey will be used to collect valuable sector-wide data on sustainable procurement performance for NSW local government. Your answers will remain confidential, and results will be published as sector-wide averages and median scores. Councils wishing to gain valuable insight into their sustainable procurement progress can receive this for a fee.

The options for participation are as follows:

Option A: Sector wide results – FREE!

Option B: Individual council performance compared with sector average – $400 (+GST). You will be provided with a brief report which graphically presents your council’s individual performance against each of the elements of ISO 20400 compared to the sector wide average for each element. This provides a useful snapshot that gives a high-level indication of how well your council is tracking in sustainable procurement.

Option C: Sustainable Procurement Scorecard – $1,200 (+GST). For an additional investment, receive a detailed report on your council’s sustainable procurement performance that provides your results and recommendations for improvements that would provide the most benefit to your council. Where available, we will also include a comparison against your results from previous years. The information provides a health check against ISO 20400 for your council and is an affordable and effective way to track progress in sustainable procurement.

LGP will shortly be opening the 2024 survey, and your council is invited to participate. The survey will be sent to primary sustainable procurement contacts at your council, but you can register now if you would like to receive your council’s individual results.
