CEO’s Desk – July 2025

For LGP, July marks the start of our countdown to LGP’s Annual Conference. On Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 October, we’ll be welcoming hundreds of people back to Doltone House, Darling Island for what’s set to be another standout event.

The speaker program will be finalised over the next few weeks, and delegate registrations will open on Tuesday 8 July via the LGP website.

We’re now inviting expressions of interest from LGP Contracted Suppliers who’d like to sponsor, or exhibit. These spaces are typically over-subscribed, and many of last year’s exhibitors secured their spots for 2025. If you’re keen to be part of this year’s exhibitor line-up, please reach out to [email protected] to avoid missing out.

While some packages have already been snapped up, there are still a few sponsorship opportunities available. View our 2025 Sponsor & Exhibitor Prospectus to learn more.

In the meantime, don’t forget to register for our upcoming Network Meetings. We’ll be in:

  • Griffith on 31 July

  • Sydney Procurement Network Meeting on 6 August

  • Sydney Engineering Network Meeting on 7 August

We’ve now closed Release 4 of the LGP Capability Grant Program, which will see $150,000 distributed to support procurement initiatives across NSW. Applications are currently being assessed, and we’ll be announcing the successful projects before the end of July.

Next up is another exciting funding initiative: the Innovation Development Fund (IDF), kindly supported by Telstra. This will launch later in July and will be open to all NSW councils, who’ll be invited to apply for matched funding for new digital transformation projects. We’ll be sharing more details closer to the launch date.

Meanwhile, our First Nations Procurement Scheme is already up and running. Just two weeks since going live, 50 First Nations businesses are now available on VendorPanel and ready to engage with all 128 NSW councils. Each of these suppliers is either Supply Nation Certified or NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce Assured.

To access the list, head into VendorPanel, click on Local Government Procurement Lists, and select the LGP First Nations Procurement Scheme (you’ll find it just above the Legal Services Contract List).

Please remember: this scheme operates outside of LGP’s Prescription. Engagements are limited to $250,000 including GST, and councils must apply their own Procurement Policy when engaging suppliers under this scheme. We look forward to seeing more councils and First Nations businesses connecting through this initiative.

Finally, I recently had the opportunity to meet with several Northern Rivers councils to discuss our new Disaster Response Solution (DRS). I appreciated their time and interest as we walked through how LGP can support council pre-planning with the help of disaster recovery experts—ensuring teams are better equipped when the next major weather event strikes.

If you’d like to know more about the DRS, please reach out to your LGP Business Development Manager.

Thank you.
