For the past 5 years LGP has participated in Steptember to help raise awareness, and important funds for Cerebral Palsy Alliance. We were back at it again in 2024 and I am very proud to say we had a record 7 teams (over half the business) take more than 10 million steps and raised over $3,700. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated to our fundraising activities.
In October we all come together again at the 2024 LGP Annual Conference, at Doltone House, Darling Island, Pyrmont on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th of October.
The theme is “Create Ripples – Ride the wave”. It is about starting small and building momentum towards transformational change. Our speakers have been specifically selected to unpack these concepts and share how we can all learn and make changes to be better.
We open the event with the Minister for Local Government, the Honourable Ron Hoenig MP, quickly followed by Dr Dianne McGrath, a round-the-world sailor, environmental transformationalist and biohacker. We have speakers from a variety of metropolitan and regional councils, and a Councillor’s perspective on achieving great outcomes from procurement.
In terms of professional development we have an LGP Board Member and expert Chief Procurement Officer taking us through a procurement strategy design workshop. There is a session on building trust for success, and another on expert time management techniques.
Right now we are judging the 2024 Procurement Awards. I am excited to see who will be the winner of the Sustainable Procurement Achievement Award. Who we get to crown as the 2024 Supplier of the Year, and our New Procurement Professional.
The major award is Outstanding Procurement Professional – this is the person we judge as the best performing procurement professional in NSW local government over the past 12months.
