A Councillor’s Perspective – My Best Community Outcomes Through Procurement

As elected officials we are champions for our communities. On the local government level there are many areas that we need to focus on including, infrastructure, public spaces, community developments, social justice, and sustainability. Procurement is not an area that many think of when they think of positive change, it is my experience that the procurement team in our council has unlocked and exposed partners in the market that contributed to positive (social, sustainable, economic) change in our LGA. It is at the time of approaching the market, seeking input from the market that we can ask for innovation in creation or behaviour.
