The LGP Rebate Scheme is an annual payment made to councils in recognition of your loyalty and continued use of LGP’s whole-of-state panel contracts. Since 2008, LGP is proud to have distributed over $12 million through this scheme to councils, ROCs, and JOs across NSW.
Of that $12 million, 75% has gone to ROCs and JOs participating under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) representing 48 councils. The remaining 80 councils have shared just 25% of the available annual funds.
To bring greater equity to the Rebate Scheme, the LGP Board and Executive have approved some important changes.
What’s changing?
From 1 July 2025, LGP will no longer offer MOUs to ROCs and JOs. Instead, all rebate payments will go directly to individual councils to use as they see fit. This change will increase the pool of available funds for direct distribution to councils.
While the new model is still being finalised, we expect that councils spending a higher proportion of their budget through LGP contracts will receive a larger share of the available rebate funds.
When does this take effect?
The changes will apply from 1 July 2025, with payments made under the new model in October 2026. There will be no changes to the rebate payments scheduled for October 2025.
