LGP Procurement Capability Grant Program
Please Note:
Applications are now open and will close at 5pm on Thursday, 5th of June 2025.
NSW councils once again have the opportunity to enhance their procurement capability through our LGP Grant Program. Following the success of last year’s round – where over $150,000 in funding was awarded – LGP is proud to continue supporting new ideas in procurement.
Exclusively designed to support new procurement projects and professional development, the LGP Procurement Capability Grant Program is a first for the Australian local government sector.
The program aims to incentivise the design and implementation of high-impact initiatives that build capability in procurement practices across the NSW local government sector.
Who Can Apply
The Grant Program is open to all NSW councils, Regional Organisations of Councils, Joint Organisations, Aboriginal Land Councils and County Councils.
Each eligible organisation can submit an application for funding between $3,000 and $25,000 to support new initiatives that build procurement capability. Projects must be completed within a 12-month period. Initiatives that are already underway or completed are not eligible for funding.
LGP is seeking to fund initiatives that align with one or more of the following areas:
- Process Improvement
- Procurement Resource Development
- Technology
- Professional Development
- Other (such as disaster recovery, First Nations or SME procurement, or other relevant procurement areas)
How Projects Are Evaluated
All submissions will undergo a qualitative assessment by LGP’s review panel.
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Demonstrated need
- Expected benefits and outcomes
- Capability (internal or external) to deliver the project
- Likelihood of success
Proposals that align with recommendations from the Office of Local Government, the Audit Office of NSW, ICAC, or similar bodies will be viewed favourably.
