At last week’s LGP Conference, we had the privilege of hearing from a diverse group of speakers who shared a wealth of valuable information across various topics. 1. Navigating the Circular Economy
Dr Hadi Rezaei Vandchali, LGP’s very own ESG and Procurement Services Consultant, presented on Navigating the Circular Economy. During his presentation, Hadi referenced the Whitepaper that LGP published in May this year. Hadi also spoke about the new Circular Economy filter tags we have made available across all LGP Contracts in VendorPanel. 2. Developing and Implementing an Effective Procurement Strategy for your Organisation.
Coretta Bessi, a Director on LGP’s Board showed us how to develop a procurement strategy. Coretta shared a range of useful models and tools you can use when developing your strategy including the McKinsey 7S model, STEEPLE and SWOT. Copies of the worksheets will be made available through the conference app.

3. Modern Slavery
On the morning of Day 2 of the conference, we heard from Moe Turaga who has lived experience of modern slavery. Through telling his story, Moe brought a very human element to the issue of modern slavery and highlighted the importance of effectively finding and dealing with modern slavery in supply chains.

4. Enhancing Collaboration through Effective Relationship Management
Sharon Morris from World Commerce and Contracting (WCC) spoke about the latest research from WCC that highlights the importance of relationship management for ensuring you get value from your contracts.

5. A Councillor’s Perspective
Councillor Phyllis Miller OAM, Mayor of Forbes Shire Council gave her thoughts and perspectives on community outcomes through procurement. During her presentation, Phyllis mentioned a case study that will be appearing in LGP’s 2023/24 Annual Report on the Forbes Homemaker Centre and how Forbes Shire Council was able to use LGP420 Minor and Major Works Contract for restoration of the building following a major fire. The case study can be found in the 2023/2024 LGP Annual Report which will be published in November.
