Incorporating sustainability into procurement goes beyond having a good policy. Councils that have genuinely embedded sustainable practices regularly undertake activities such as identifying key drivers, training staff, measuring progress, and ensuring sustainability factors influence procurement decisions.
To support councils in this journey, LGP offers an annual Sustainable Procurement Survey, aligned with the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement guidance standard. The survey assesses councils’ progress in embedding sustainability into procurement processes.
Participation is free, and responses help collect valuable sector-wide data on sustainable procurement performance in NSW local government. All responses remain confidential, with results published as sector-wide averages and median scores. Councils wishing to gain detailed insights into their own progress can access individual reports for a fee.
Survey Participation Options
Option A – Sector-wide results: Free
Receive sector-wide averages and median scores to benchmark your council against others.
Option B – Individual council performance: $400 (+GST)
A brief report showing your council’s performance against each ISO 20400 element, compared with the sector average. This high-level snapshot highlights how your council is tracking without detailed analysis or recommendations.
Option C – Sustainable Procurement Scorecard: $1,200 (+GST)
A detailed report on your council’s sustainable procurement performance, including recommendations for improvement and, where available, comparisons with previous years. This scorecard provides a comprehensive health check against ISO 20400 and is an affordable, effective tool for tracking progress.
LGP has released the 2025 survey, and your council is invited to participate. The survey has been sent to your primary sustainable procurement contacts. Register now to receive your council’s individual results.
