CEO’s Desk – June 2025

So many new initiatives from LGP at the moment, our team is doing some of its best work right now.

This month, we’re proud to officially launch the First Nations Procurement Scheme. More than 50 First Nations businesses will soon be available on VendorPanel for all 128 NSW councils to search, engage, and do business with. It’s a major milestone in our commitment to supporting Indigenous enterprise and creating more inclusive procurement outcomes.

We’ve also commenced the staged rollout of our Disaster Response Solution (DRS). This is an exclusive customised solution focused on unique community and council needs when tackling an unfolding disaster. The recent devastation on the NSW Mid-North Coast is a stark reminder that natural disasters are becoming more frequent and more severe. That’s why this solution is built on a three-tiered sourcing model, supported by pre-agreed pricing, disaster recovery specialists, and a tailored Disaster Response Sourcing Action Plan for each council.

We’ve just begun engaging with councils on this initiative, and we welcome early conversations if you’re keen to learn more.

Last month, I announced the opening of Release 4 of the LGP Capability Grant Program. With shares of $150,000 in funding available, submissions have been flowing in quickly ahead of the deadline this Thursday, 5 June. If your council is still considering a submission, you can find all details on how to submit your application on our site.

Once the Capability Grant closes, we’ll be turning our attention to the launch of the Innovation Development Fund (IDF) – our latest co-funded investment initiative in partnership with Telstra. NSW councils will be able to apply for projects that support digital transformation, uplift capability, and deliver innovative services to communities. Keep an eye out for the announcement later this month.

We have also just launched our biggest-ever tender – the Professional Consulting Panel Contract (LGP1208-5). We’re anticipating more than 400 tender submissions, which will be managed entirely through our new Contract Lifecycle Management System, powered by OneAdvanced.

To my knowledge, this will be the largest go-to-market process ever run on the OneAdvanced platform. This is where the resource productivity and process automation benefit will be amplified with such a high volume of tenders needing to be processed. The benefits of automation and smarter workflows will significantly reduce months of staff effort and helping us bring the panel to market far more efficiently.

Later this month, our Network Meeting Event Program heads to Cessnock on Wednesday, 19 June – an area which has been severely challenged with the heavy rains causing serious flooding and damage to many local communities. It will be great to visit the area and offer our support in their recovery. Feel free to register for the event, we look forward to seeing you there.

Finally, a quick reminder to block out 21-22 October for our 2025 Annual Conference & Procurement Awards at Doltone House, Darling Island – Pyrmont. This is our premier event, bringing together over 150 council representatives, more than 30 supplier exhibitors, and a fantastic lineup of guest speakers. The event finishes with our Awards Dinner, recognising standout achievements in the sector. Registrations will open soon, so watch this space.

Thank you.
