Supporting Council Digital Transformation – The LGP Innovation Development Fund is Now Live

March marks the 2nd round launch of LGP’s Innovation Development Fund.  Following a successful initial launch in September of 2025 with over 25 submissions, LGP are delighted to continue this scheme in partnership with Telstra to support and incentivise technology innovation for NSW councils, Regional Organisations of Councils (ROCs), and Joint Organisations (JOs).

The IDF is focused on local government organisations who are driving to meet the evolving needs of their communities through strategic digital transformation.

This strategy is available to work with councils who are ready to co-fund projects that tackle technology innovation, lift digital capability and drive digital transformation to better serve and create new value for their communities.

Funding is provided on a co‑investment basis, where the Innovation Development Fund will contribute 50% of the total project value up to $50,000 per project. This maximum contribution results in a baseline project value of around $100,000, however there is no upper limit on total project value.

To be considered for funding, for every dollar requested, councils will need to contribute the same amount. For example, if you are planning a $50,000 software development project to provide an enhanced customer service solution, the Innovation Development Fund can be called upon to support $25,000 in direct funding and the council will need to show in their application they will fund the other $25,000.

LGP and Telstra are very proud and excited to help influence the Digital Transformation space for the NSW local government sector.

The Innovation Development Fund is now open! Submit your application by 5pm, 2 April via the online application form.
