As part of the Sustainability Pillar in the FY23–26 LGP Strategic Plan, Local Government Procurement (LGP) conducted a review of all 128 NSW Councils’ Community Strategic Plans to better understand how LGP’s contracts support local government waste management and circular economy priorities.
Using NVivo, a qualitative thematic analysis software, the team identified over 700 environmental goals, with 150 directly related to Waste Management and the Circular Economy. These 150 goals were manually mapped against LGP’s full contract suite to identify areas of alignment and support.
Key Findings
Of the 150 relevant goals, 93 (62%) were found to be directly supported by existing LGP contract categories. These include a broad range of goods and services designed to assist councils in advancing their environmental and circular economy objectives.
