Circular Economy Procurement Webinar Supports Tasmanian Councils

LGP recently partnered with the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) and TasWaste South to deliver a webinar focused on embedding circular economy principles into procurement practices across Tasmanian councils.

The session explored practical approaches to integrating circular thinking throughout the procurement lifecycle, from planning and market engagement through to sourcing, evaluation, contract management and supplier accountability. Participants gained insights into how procurement can support councils in achieving stronger environmental, social and financial outcomes through everyday purchasing decisions.

A key theme of the webinar was moving beyond policy intent and into practical implementation. Discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration between procurement, project delivery, sustainability, waste management and operational teams to drive successful circular economy outcomes.

Attendees also heard from industry representatives at Fulton Hogan and Winc Australia, who shared real-world examples of circular initiatives being implemented across construction, infrastructure and office supplies.

LGP extends its thanks to LGAT and TasWaste South for their leadership in bringing councils together to strengthen capability and continue important conversations around circular economy and sustainable procurement in Tasmania.
