John Truman

John was appointed to the Board as Chair in 2018 with this appointment renewed in 2021 and 2024. 

John’s professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.  

John has extensive experience working in the local government sector, including 25 years as the Director of Civil Services at Ballina Shire Council.   

John is admitted by the NSW Supreme Court as a solicitor.  

In 2025 John resigned from Ballina Shire Council to commence legal practice working for Keystone Lawyers.  John's legal practice specialises in building and construction law, local government law, and commercial law.   

He is a former National President and NSW President of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia.
