CEO’s Desk – May 2026

LGP has been in full swing with our events program.  We conducted our second First Nations Procurement Forum in Coffs Harbour collaborating with local First Nations businesses.  That was quickly followed by our network meeting which was supported by over 60 council representatives in the room.

Currently we are in Canberra delivering another First Nations Procurement Forum and network meeting which has again attracted over 60 council representatives.  Early next month (4 June) we will be in Orange doing the same again.

In 2026 our Network meetings have attracted record numbers, almost 200 people in our first 3 network meetings.  We are very grateful for the support and look forward to meeting and sharing with councils across all our remaining events.

That includes our 2026 Annual Conference. Stay tuned next month for announcements relating to the Annual Conference on 20th & 21st October.  Registrations open June 10th 2026.

LGP continues to work with our panel contract suppliers in the management of temporary fuel levies due to the ongoing disruption of global supply chains. We continue to review and carefully approve new requests from our suppliers where supply chain costs have risen.  We will conduct ongoing reviews of these temporary fuel levies over the coming weeks and months.

Our Innovation Development Fund (IDF) program in partnership with Telstra has concluded its second round, we are pleased to have awarded five new digital transformation projects to be delivered. We thank all those who submitted applications, and we look forward to seeing more applications in round three in the new financial year.

Similarly we have now closed off release five of the LGP Procurement Capability Grant program where we received over 60 submissions worth $1.3 million. We are now in the process of evaluating those submissions and look forward to releasing the details of the winning projects next month.

Incredibly over the last 3 years, LGP has had our own representative on the World Commerce and Contract (WCC) APAC Council in Bronwyn Challis, our Head of Business Development.  We are now campaigning for Bronwyn’s re-election, and with voting concluding at the end of May, we would like your help.

Only WCC Members can vote, if you are a member please consider voting for Bronwyn so we can maintain a local government presence on the council.  Please submit your vote via ElectionBuddy.

Thank you.
