CEO's Desk - August
LGP is very proud to have commissioned and now started to share the outcomes of our research conducted with World Commerce and Contracting (WCC).
Our first Research Report, titled From Transactional to Strategic: Unlocking Better Outcomes Through Stronger Council-Supplier Relationships, provides significant insight into the relationship between councils and suppliers. The research points to some surprising strategies that still need to be delivered in order for these two key stakeholders to work together into the future for the benefit of communities.
Led by Bronwyn Challis, Director Customer Engagement, this initiative is a first for LGP. Considering the significant findings, procurement research is something we plan to continue to invest in and share well into the future. To find out more, Bronwyn will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday 18 August at 4pm. If you would like to register and join the conversation, you can secure your spot today.
LGP is strengthening our governance, and we are delighted to welcome Jan McClelland AM and Mathew Baldwin to the LGP Board. Both Jan and Mathew joined our August Board Meeting. We are truly grateful for their keen interest, along with their willingness to share their expertise and knowledge with us. LGP remains in the unique position of having a Board that is engaged, supportive and constantly working to constructively challenge and evolve our business.
Focusing on our customers, right now it is all about events for LGP. Just two weeks ago, we ran three events in three days in the Sydney CBD, where it was our privilege to welcome and share with more than 250 people. The first event was our Sydney First Nations Procurement Forum, hosting 60 people from different First Nations businesses, all of whom were attending to understand how they can break in and do work with NSW councils.
The following two days, we had our Sydney Procurement Network meeting, followed by our Sydney Engineering Network meeting, covering a diverse range of topics and, most importantly, some terrific council case studies. All three events were a great success. Our thanks go to everyone who came along, our speakers, the LGP Marketing team, and all our staff who helped put the three days together.
As I mentioned last month, the 2026 LGP Annual Conference will be held on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 October, where we welcome back hundreds of important people to Doltone House, Darling Island, Pyrmont.
The theme of this year’s conference is focused on how procurement can impact community value. Some of the topics to be shared include council supply chain diversity, how to implement ESG for community impact, and, of course, how we stay on top of what is evolving with AI. Again, all these topics are supplemented by a series of innovative council case studies for us to learn from.
Delegate registrations are now open on the LGP website, we hope to see you there.
Thank you.
