We are deeply grateful for the warm reception that Strategic Procurement Solutions has received since our rebranding. Launched on July 1, 2024, our new name reflects a refined focus and clearer identity. We shared the reasons behind this significant change with you, and today, we want to outline our focus for the next quarter.
As part of our commitment to providing value and clarity, we have adopted a “less is more” approach, concentrating on two critical areas each quarter. For the remainder of this year, we will be shining a light on the following key topics:
1. Emphasizing Probity in High-Value, Grant-Funded Council Projects
Our spotlight will be on probity in council projects that are valued over $5 million and are grant-funded. Probity is crucial as it serves as a protective shield, safeguarding processes from both internal and external scrutiny.
While it may not be entirely impenetrable, it certainly provides significant coverage against potential risks. Our consultants have extensive experience in supporting councils to navigate these challenges, ensuring that their processes are not only compliant but also robust. By acting as a “probity cushion,” we help councils build confidence in their governance, especially when faced with external challenges and scrutiny.
2. Advancing Sustainable Procurement: Modern Slavery Initiatives
Our Sustainable Procurement consultants have been dedicated to addressing Modern Slavery for several years. Working closely with the NSW Anti-Slavery Commissioner and other key stakeholders, we have developed a suite of tools and services to support councils in meeting their Modern Slavery reporting obligations, which are due in October.
We are eager to continue the conversation around our Modern Slavery Toolkit and the range of services we offer, including:
- Modern Slavery Risk Assessment: Identifying and evaluating potential risks within your supply chains.
- Document Review for Modern Slavery Inclusions: Ensuring all relevant documentation meets compliance standards.
- Modern Slavery Training: Educating staff and stakeholders about their roles in preventing and identifying Modern Slavery.
- Reviewing Risk Management Plans for Modern Slavery: Assessing existing risk management strategies to ensure they adequately address Modern Slavery concerns.
We believe these focus areas are not only timely but also critical to enhancing the capabilities and integrity of local government procurement processes. Stay tuned for more updates as we delve deeper into these topics. We look forward to continuing our work with you and helping strengthen procurement practices across all sectors.
