LGP Lunch & Learn – FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics)

‘Food for thought’ in support of the NSW Council FOGO mandate.

With FOGO mandated across all NSW councils by the 1st of July 2030, LGP welcomed NSW Council staff to our first lunch and learn. The hybrid event held at the LGP Clarence Street, Sydney office and streamed across NSW Councils, provided the opportunity for councils to hear of first-hand experiences and what to expect as councils continue or commence their FOGO roll out journey.

The balanced agenda contained speaker contributions from SLR Consulting, Lake Macquarie City Council & Inner West Council, as well as LGP.

On completion of the welcome address, Andrew Quinn, Technical Director, Sustainable Waste Management – SLR Consulting Australia Pty Ltd covered ‘Preparing for FOGO – landscape, implementation, common challenges.’

The opening perfectly complemented our council guest speakers, the first being Loren Tunbridge, Coordinator Waste Contracts – Lake Macquarie City Council followed by Helen Bradley, Manager Resource Recovery Planning, and Erin White, Manager Resource Recovery Operations & Fleet – Inner West Council. Both councils have rolled out their FOGO program and were able to highlight the benefits to the community as well as what to look out for in the different stages of the process.

LGP wrapped up the day by touching on internal LGP departments that assist council, this being LGP Consulting & Sustainable Choice, along with your Business Development Managers who are available to discuss the contract options that apply in the consideration, commencement, and ongoing roll out stages of your council’s FOGO journey.

With the questions addressed from the online attendees, the opportunity opened for those in attendance to network, ask questions and enjoy a delicious lunch to complete the day.

Thank you to the contribution by our guest speakers, as well as those who attended both at the office and online.

LGP looks forward to answering your questions about FOGO and, after the success of this event announcing our next lunch and learn. Please feel free to reach out to your Business Development Manager with any suggestions.
