Local Government Indigenous Procurement Program
Local Government Procurement (LGP) is constantly looking for ways we can use our knowledge and experience to lead new initiatives across the NSW local government in sourcing, procurement and expenditure management.
The NSW Local Government Indigenous Procurement Program (IPP) has LGP supporting councils to engage with Indigenous enterprises across NSW to bring the local government and Indigenous business sectors closer together.
Our program begins with LGP designing and working with Reconciliation Australia to prepare our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). We have conducted supplier diversity training for all staff at LGP. We are a proud corporate partner of the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC).
NSWICC is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation who works with Aboriginal entrepreneurs, business owners, enterprising communities to develop and accelerate the business goals by building skills, developing capacity, removing barriers, identifying and facilitating opportunities.
Our next step is to release a form of ‘marketplace’ in partnership with the 350+ ‘business-ready’ Members of the NSWICC, and with LGP’s customised due diligence approach, we will introduce and proactively encourage engagement between our 128 NSW councils and these exciting aboriginal businesses.
You will see and hear more about this through LGP events, our newsletter and from our team. In the meantime if you have any questions, or would like to know how you can participate in this program, please complete the form below and we will be in touch very soon.
