On August 4th our friend, colleague and supporter Bruce Renneberg is retiring after an impressive 36 years in council.
Bruce joined Sutherland Council in accounts payable in 1987, and after offering to assist a colleague in Stores he started his procurement journey. Initially, procurement was just a one-man unit but through his hard work he instigated and created the centre led procurement framework. A structure that currently exists and is used throughout Council. This legacy, including updating and formulating the procurement policy and procurement guidelines will continue to assist the whole of council in best practice procurement activities.
Being a major advocate for LGP especially with the introduction of VendorPanel, Bruce was one of the initial council’s which assisted in its development, which most councils are now utilising. The wealth of knowledge that Bruce imparts to all with regards to purchasing as a whole, including his depth of knowledge of contracts, including LGP contracts, will be surely missed.
Through his commitment to the development of a strong team of procurement professionals, business as usual is maintained at Sutherland Shire Council and he has set a strong platform for years to come.
Thanks for everything Bruce!
