Introducing Horst Rossmann

Who am I?

I was born and raised in a small town in Austria, close to the Swiss border and I am the ‘ultimate middle-child’, because I have three older and three younger siblings.

After finishing an apprenticeship as chef and waiter and a hospitality management degree, I worked in the hospitality industry in Austria, Switzerland, the Island of Corsica, Florida and on a Cruise ship before moving to Australia in 1996. I came to Sydney in 2000 to work at the Olympics and in 2004 I decided that it was time for a career change and started in IT procurement with UBS (a global bank), where I stayed for 10 years. After working for TfNSW I started with LGP 2021 during the Covid lockdown.

In the picture you can see my favourite things, riding my bike, spending time with my granddaughter and her dog (don’t tell my wife she did not make it to the top of the list😊). Other hobbies are reading, writing, gardening and renovating.

What keeps me busy at LGP?

I am the category manager for the IT&C and Corporate Services portfolio, which includes 11 contracts like IT&C, HR, Legal, Corporate Clothing and so on. Besides the strategic planning of the portfolio and managing the contracts, I also work closely with the BDM team and visit councils to inform them about our contracts.

Part of my job is also to attend conferences, webinars and trade shows to investigate new innovations, meet suppliers to help updating our panels with the latest technology and deliverables.

How do I make a difference at LGP?

From the day I started at LGP I focused on improving processes and challenging the status quo. I was instrumental in making our contracts more dynamic to be able to respond to scope improvements and to make the addition of new suppliers easier and faster.

I am known to occasionally use humour to bring across my point of view.

Please connect with me via LinkedIn or via email.
