From the CEO’s Desk

For LGP, September is all about networking with our councils and preparing for our annual conference.  We are attending and serving as Keynote Speakers at several events this month which cover the national local government sector, supply chains, and sustainability.

We are only 7 weeks away from the 2024 LGP Annual Conference on the 29th and 30th of October, back on the water at Doltone House, Darling Island, Pyrmont.  Incredibly we are already up over 90 registrations for this event.  The awards dinner on day 1 of the conference is always a great night of celebration.  With our theme for the dinner chosen, it is selling out quickly.

This year’s theme, “Create Ripples, Ride the Wave,” will inspire us to explore the power of small actions leading to big changes. As leaders and innovators in our fields, we understand that meaningful progress often begins with a single step. This conference will be a platform for networking, sharing ideas, strategies, and solutions that harness the potential of incremental improvements to create lasting impact in our local communities.

From keynote addresses by renowned experts to interactive workshops and panel discussions, the 2024 LGP Annual Conference has something for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out, this event will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.

We would love to see you there, please click here to find out more.

Our Annual Procurement Awards are a great opportunity for councils and our panel suppliers to tell their stories of achievement across our sector over the past 12 months.  The online application process is simple.  If you are a business, team or individual who might qualify for any of these prestigious annual awards, we would love to see your application:

  • Outstanding Procurement Professional
  • Supplier of the Year
  • Sustainable Procurement Award
  • New Procurement Professional
  • Procurement Project of the Year

It does not take long to complete, please click here and see what you great work you might want to share. If you have any queries please reach out to us at [email protected] and we will get in touch immediately to give you a hand.

Three years ago LGP launched and has continued to lead the only Grant Program completely focused on procurement capability in local government.  We are very proud of the impact and the changes we have help make. Release 3 of the Procurement Capability Grant Program has now been evaluated and after evaluating 68 submissions valued at $1.24m the nine approved projects show a good blend of project type, between technology resource development, process improvement and training. The recipients are evenly spread across the state with all recipients receiving LGP grant funding for the first time.  We cannot wait to see the case studies coming from these projects to communicate across the sector once complete.
