From the CEO’s Desk – May 2023

We are delighted to share that the response received for the 2023 LGP Procurement Capability Grant Program has been phenomenal. Submissions for our 2nd release have now closed, and we are pleased to inform that the number of applications has doubled from last year!

Incredibly we have received 67 submissions valued at more than $1m for projects across all 5 categories – Process Improvement, Procurement Resource Development, Technology, Professional Development, Disaster Recovery/Procurement related areas.

For those who did provide a submission, our next step is to evaluate all the responses. The LGP Assessment Committee may contact you to provide further supporting information. Otherwise, we thank all those provided a submission, we will notify all our applicants of the outcome by the middle of June.

As I mentioned in last month’s LGP News, we are constantly looking for ways to be better and I shared the new Customer Service Standards LGP staff are now holding themselves to in their various roles.  We want to be challenged against these standards to be better, your feedback on how we are going is very important.

Some of the questions we are interested in having you answer for us, which indicates if/how we are performing against these standards include:

  • Did we resolve your query with our first response?
  • If not, did we provide an update on your query every 24hrs to keep you in the loop on progress?
  • Did the person you contact remain the person leading your query all the way to resolution?

The most valued asset at LGP is our staff.  We have our team presenting at events, involved in leadership and training programs, leading key projects.  Internally we know how great our people are.

To shine a brighter light on our people, we are now profiling the fabulous people who work at LGP.  Last month we shared profiles on Emma Murray and Suska Timney, two of our longstanding and loyal employees.

This month I encourage you to visit the profiles of John Pennock and Selina Pinheiro – two people you might have seen when you attend our events, or in meetings with councils.  Look out for more LGP Staff profiles over the coming months, and when you are engaging these people please share or open a discussion around what you just learnt about them.

Finally we have now delivered our second 2023 Network Meeting. This time we were in Holbrook, hosted by Greater Hume City Council, at their new community Sporting Complex.  Our next event is on 1 June in Dubbo, we would love to see you there, click here to register.

Thank you,
Luke Kenny
