From the CEO’s Desk – Feb 2024

Welcome to 2024 and a Happy New Year to you all.

All of us here at LGP hope that you all had a lovely break and you come back into 2024 refreshed and relaxed.  LGP is set for another year where we look to make changes that lift our performance and deliver new and better value for our councils, ROCs, JOs and our Approved Contractors.

In 2024 LGP will continue expanding out Indigenous Procurement Program for the NSW local government sector, execute Release 3 of our Procurement Capability Grant Program, continue our dynamic contract strategy roll-out to provide better service to suppliers, identify new contracts we plan to develop in line with future council needs, prepare new training courses so you can access new qualifications and expand our ESG (environment, social, governance) procurement solutions through LGP Consulting.

Internally we continue with our work to discover and implement artificial intelligence across our business, we will roll out a Contract Lifecycle Management System (CLMS) to automate the management of our panel contracts and as part of our strategic plan conduct a quality assessment across all functions of the business to identify where we can be more efficient and provide better customer service.

Of course, the 2024 LGP events program is bigger than ever.  We start on the 29th of this month with our first ever council CEO Breakfast, where we are joined by Peter Tompkins, Managing Director and CEO of Downer.  Our first network meeting is in Armidale on 7th March, then we run network meetings in Cessnock, Dubbo, Wagga, Kiama, Bathurst and Sydney.  Due to popularity, our webinar program has expanded significantly, we have sessions scheduled on how to get the most out of the VendorPanel system when working with LGP contracts, a webinar on FOGO, and more to come on new Consulting services.

The 2024 Annual Conference is on 29th and 30th of October in Pyrmont, please make a note in your diary and we will have more details to come.

The support we saw from our councils and suppliers during 2023 was unprecedented, which we appreciate very much. Our challenge is to make sure in 2024 we are constantly refreshing the value all our customers and stakeholders want to see from us, so we can build our relationships by delivering on future needs.

It is great to be back in 2024, stay safe we will see you all very soon.

Thank you,
Luke Kenny
