Public Courses

LGP offers a range of interactive and best practice modules in Procurement and Contract Management. It is designed specifically for the local government sector, covering seven critical areas of procurement and contract management. These modules are delivered by knowledgeable trainers with hands-on experience in local government. The contents, case studies and activities are tailored with practical examples to maximise knowledge transfer. These public courses also provide the participants with the opportunity to share and learn from their experiences and network with peers.

Virtual classroom

To meet the needs of our regional and rural clients and make training more accessible to them, we introduced the virtual classroom technology as an added facet to LGP training. 

Zoom, the online platform that we use allows people from any geographic location, the opportunity to remotely attend (fully/partially) the courses which are conducted at our office in Sydney.  This app is very lightweight on Internet and requires only a computing device with audio and video options. The multimedia options facilitate interactions with the trainer, view trainer’s presentations, ask questions, take part in the discussions, and get access to the other training resources. These happen seamlessly in a real-time environment, giving a physical classroom experience.
 
For the participants, this results in not only substantial reduction in the overall training cost since there are no travel and accommodation expenses, it also minimises time spent away from home.

Advanced Negotiation Skills (Accredited Course)

This course is targeted for anyone interested in developing and enhancing their negotiation skills and learn the strategies to negotiate effectively. Offered in an interactive workshop format,  this course will teach you techniques and skills to negotiate. 

Attain PSPGEN049 Undertake NegotiationsNationally Recognised Unit of Competency on successfully completing the course

Key topics:

  • Understand what you want out of the negotiation;
  • Understand what you can reasonably expect as a negotiated outcome;
  • Determine what you are willing to given up;
  • Understand the pitfalls of failing to recognise the other party's strengths and weaknesses;
  • Have sufficient skills to overcome objections;
  • Know how to close the deal;

Probity in Procurement is a half-day course designed to provide a comprehensive overview of probity in procurement within the NSW Local Government sector. By the end of this session, participants will understand the importance of probity in procurement, probity risks, lifecycle and probity requirements.

Bidding for Government Contracts

Bidding for Government Contracts covers the basic principles, processes and best practices in bidding for government contracts. The objective of this course is to provide insights about public sector procurement from the buyer’s perspective as to what is required, how the proposals are considered, the tender evaluation process, preparing and submitting bids.The experienced trainers assist the participants to develop skills and confidence in bid writing.

ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement Training

ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement Training is a full day course designed to provide participants with an understanding of ISO 20400 on sustainable procurement and how it can be used in their own context and professional role. This course covers how to analyse a council's current sustainable procurement framework, identify drivers for sustainable procurement and define a stainable procurement strategy and program of work that is tailored to your current council's context. This course is targeted at:  procurement management, management staff in charge of environmental, social and economic issues, management in finance, legal, HR, engineers and operations.
